CAUSES WE SUPPORT
At Resto my Ride we consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to have built a business that allows us to merge our work with our passions. This unique opportunity has instilled in us a profound sense of social responsibility that we take very seriously. We believe that with great success comes an even greater obligation to give back to the community that has supported us.
For us, giving back means supporting causes that align with our values and interests. It means investing time, resources, and effort into initiatives that have a positive impact on society and our car loving community. We are proud to partner with charities that share our passion for making a difference, and we are committed to using our platform to contribute to the greater good.
So, here are just a few of the causes we support:…
VARIETY THE CHILDREN’S CHARITY
Variety – The Children’s Charity is an organisation that supports individuals, schools, not-for-profit organisations, and community groups through their grants program to help raise funds for sick and disadvantaged Kids and Families. Variety grants equipment, supplies, educational aids, and much more to assist those in need.
Resto my Ride have been proud to be involved with Variety for many years, participating in five iconic Variety Bash events that has raised in total over 8 Million dollars for the Charity.
A feature episode in Series One of Resto my Ride see’s us head off from Melbourne to Darwin in our 1966 HR Holden on our very first Variety Bash Motoring event and aptly named “We’re going to Bash the Holden”
Variety – The Children’s Charity is a cause that Resto my Ride has been proud to support for many years. Our involvement includes not only the annual Variety Bash but also a range of smaller car events and initiatives. In fact, we have hosted our own car shows in Williamstown to raise funds for Variety whilst bringing the car loving and generous car community together.
We are committed to assisting wherever possible, leveraging our extensive network to benefit the organisation.
One of our major contributions has been the development of a strong relationship between Variety, the Children’s Charity and the Melbourne Showgrounds. Thanks to this partnership, the Official Start to the 30th Variety Bash was held at the Showgrounds in August 2022, as well as Variety being selected as the “Charity of Choice” for both 2022 and 2023 for the much-loved Royal Melbourne Show.
This exposure has allowed Variety to increase awareness and raise funds for all-abilities activities and grants for individuals and the community.
Resto my Ride’s commitment to Variety goes beyond sponsorship and events, as both Dec and Sam volunteer in various capacities, from tin rattling on city corners to serving on the Variety Motoring Events committee and as well as the Variety Victoria board.
We are always looking for ways to make a positive impact on the lives of children and communities in need.
Another example of our collaboration with Variety is our work with Gold Logie award winner, John Woods.
Best known for his roles as Stipendiary Magistrate Michael Rafferty in the legal drama Rafferty’s Rules and as Tom Croydon in the long-running Australian police drama Blue Heelers, when John approached us to help sell his beloved MG, we saw an opportunity to benefit the Variety community. We suggested donating a percentage of the sale of the MG to the Variety and the idea was a hit.
A Variety supporter ultimately purchased the car at an auction held at a fundraising ball.
At the core of our relationship with Variety is a shared dedication to improving the lives of those in need. Whether it’s providing equipment, supplies, educational aids, or much more, we are committed to making a difference.

THE EJ WHITTEN FOUNDATION
The EJ Whitten Foundation holds a special place in our hearts as we had the opportunity to support this incredible charity through our passion for car restoration.
Our TV show pilot, which has since become an International TV series, began with the restoration of a 1966 EJ Holden in memory of the legendary football player, Ted Whitten.
Our first episode , An “EJ for EJ” see’s Dec commit to building an “EJ Holden for the EJ Whitten” Charity Foundation. In only 9 short weeks Dec has to call in his buddies, and well known AFL legends Sam Newman, Doug Hawkins, Robert “Dipper” DiPierdomenico, Billy Brownless and comedian Russell Gilbert to help finish the build in time for the auction day.
The Resto My Ride team poured their hearts and souls into the project, meticulously restoring the EJ Holden to its former glory. The car went on to become one of the most beloved creations in our portfolio and we are proud to have been a part of its journey. Our efforts culminated in the car’s auction where it sold for over $80,000, a testament to the incredible craftsmanship and dedication of our team.
Supporting the EJ Whitten Foundation is a privilege for us, as we share their commitment to making a difference in the lives of those affected by prostate cancer. The memory of Ted Whitten continues to inspire us, and we are honoured to have been able to pay tribute to him and his legacy through our work on the EJ Holden restoration – An EJ for EJ.
We were honoured to be able to restore this classic and iconic Holden for the foundation and to contribute to their mission of promoting awareness and early detection of prostate cancer.
THE WALK FOR MENS HEALTH
Resto my Ride has been a steadfast supporter of the Walk for Men’s Health charity event, serving as a major sponsorship partner for four years and also taking part as entrants in this annual walk around Williamstown, Victoria.
This event, created by Jo Davis in memory of her late husband Graeme ‘Creamy’ Davis, is a meaningful way to honour and raise awareness for the Men in our lives who face health challenges.
By participating in this important cause, Resto my Ride has demonstrated their commitment to promoting awareness and finding solutions for Men’s Health issues.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our Resto my Ride fans for their unwavering support of our business.
With your contributions, we are able to continue making a positive impact on causes that matter to our community. Thank you!
